The Story of Pal
by Ellie & Amy

My Aunt had recently given me a male zebra Finch as a pet, as hers had bred too many males. In calling her with some questions about this finch that our children named "Pal". She told me that she had put one of the remaining male fledglings in a cage by itself, and the next day she found him laying on three brand new eggs. Shocked at what she saw she immidiatly called her local petshop, and informed them and questioned this, and they affirmed her worst fears, that sometimes male finches will lay eggs. I got off the phone puzzled, and I and my 8 year old daughter Amy, ran to Pal's cage to see if infact this was true. To our disapointment, there were no eggs in Pal's nest and Pal seemed to be quite inquisative as to what we were doing.

While cooking dinner that night, Pal bounced and chirruped in his cage, the thought occured to me that my Aunt had "pulled the wool over our eyes once again" and I told my daughter that Aunty had pulled our legs real good this time. The result was that we researched everything we could find out About our Zebra Finches, and we had alot of fun doing it, and as a result Pal is a much happier Finch!

Here is some of Pal in his cage and also his new bride Paulette (Pollie). Amy and I hope you like them. They were Wed this afternoon. The Pair were very excited.

The menu was pasta and Italian Meatballs ala Ellie, and a torn romaine salad with roma tomatoes and sunflower kernals, cheese croutons. The new couple enjoyed cut up romaine lettuce, Crushed sunflower kernals (unsalted) and special finch food, as well as fresh distilled water. The Cake was an Entimans cheesecake.

The Bride was lovely in her suit of soft grey down. Pal was very excited while waiting for Rudy (Amy's Dad) to arrive with his new chosen bride. Amy is enthralled with her new pet and chose the name Paulette for her new pet. Pollie for short. Amy and Ellie were guests, toasting the young couple with cranberry and 7-up sprizters. Also at the party were several of Amy's toys, A collectable porcelain doll named Collette, a white teddy bear named Lady lovely, and a Kelly doll. Heres to the Bride and Groom, May they live long, raise lots of young and not be so exsasperated!
