1CC Syringe with Crop Tube
Hand feeding or need to crop dose a medication?
Finch Shop

$3.00
More Information
Why spend $8-$19 dollars for a crop needle and syringe?

My new Crop Tube system is cheap and versatile.
Originally designed with Hand Feeding in mind, it can also be used to administer medications via the crop!

Tool is Latex Free!

Cleaning: Always clean this tool in cold or cool water. If you use hot water the rubber plunger inside the syringe will expand and make syringe very hard to use.

Available: 1CC (1ML)

About: I designed these unique tools specifically for Hand Feeding tossed or abandoned finch babies. As with most people I started out mouth feeding my baby finches, but the process is slow and messy. As my skills and the chicks grew I began to work at crop feeding my chicks. The main problem I encountered is the crop needle itself. They are designed for liquids only and hand-feeding formula would not pass through them easily. Plus getting the ball at the tip of the crop need into the chicks mouth proved very difficult for the smaller species.

This is when I decided to build my own crop-feeding tool. The tubing used a flexible PVC based tubing, and is rounded smooth on both ends. To allow for a snug fit into the 1CC syringe I drilled out the Syringe tip slightly. This makes for a secure fit while still allowing the tube to be pulled out and put back in for easy cleaning.

If properly maintained one of these syringes should be all you would need to raise one finch from day two until weaned.

Just as it may be used for hand feeding, it may also be used for giving medications via the crop.

Users Comments:
I'm also grateful for Myra's crop syringe which arrived today. It is wonderful. For the first time since I've been feeding this guy (a week now) he ate without getting his crop full of air. He very happily hunkered down for a nap after his feeding. I've very impressed. It was so easy to use, too. Thanks, Myra.
