Baycox/Endocox 2.5% is highly effective against Coccidiosis/Atoxoplasmosis in ornamental birds.

Active Ingredient: Toltrazuril

Prevention of Coccidiosis/Atoxoplasmosis

Preventative programs are recommended against Coccidiosis/Atoxoplasmosis because of the difficulties in curing these diseases. Control of Coccidiosis requires strict hygiene practices and regular treatments. Baycox/Endocox administered at a low dose (1ml per litre) for three days every month prevents coccidiosis outbreaks in young bird and promotes immunity against re-infection. Baycox/Endocox is thus the medicine of choice to prevent Coccidiosis. Baycox/Endocox has little effect on already infected birds, but protects in contact birds within three days.

Prevention for Breeding Birds
Baycox/Endocox used as part of a pre-breeding cleansing program should help prevent both forms of coccidiosis. Other control options include withdrawing from breeding for a year and complete depopulation.

Prevention for Young Birds
Weaning and Juvenile birds are vulnerable to Coccidiosis because they have not yet developed immunity to this illness. Repeat preventative treatments should be carried out with young birds. Baycox/Endocox should be administered at high doses (2mls per liter) for two days each week for four weeks. Baycox/Endocox should then be administered at low doses (1ml per 2 liters) for five days when hens are brooding eggs.

Baycox/Endocox for Young Birds
Baycox/Endocox treatment should start in the weaning unit for two days each week at a low dose and extend for four weeks. Baycox/Endocox should then be administered at a low dose (1ml per 2 liters) for two days every month until the conclusion of the molt.

New Birds in Quarantine
Baycox/Endocox administered at high dose (3mls per liter) for three days each week for four weeks.

Overall treatment is needed not just of the birds but the cage/aviary as well. If not treated the birds will be re-infected in days as the Coccidia Oocysts will still be present in the litter/soil/sand/ bottom of the housing. Ingesting only one Oocyst will re-infect a bird.

Change medication water on a daily basis and supply as the sole source for drinking water for treatment duration.

Treatment for Coccidiosis/Atoxoplasmosis Infections

Coccidiosis Treatment: Trimethoprim Sulfa is used to stop the spread of Coccidiosis throughout an infected aviary during out breaks. It is also the medicine of choice to treat birds with early signs of Coccidiosis. These birds must be removed from the aviary into a heated hospital cage for individual treatment. Prevention Programs must be employed to control Atoxoplasmosis as treatments against active infections have been found to be ineffective.

Change medication water on a daily basis and supply as the sole source for drinking water for treatment duration.
